Facebook marketing is incredibly popular today and for good reason. With over 800 million users, there is good chance your audience is on there. Despite the stock market reaction to its IPO, Facebook is still one of the highest traffic source on the internet.
All savvy business owners know that your business needs to be seen if you want to garner clients. If you want to take Facebook marketing by storm and you want to increase your profits like never before, pay attention to these five tips from the pros.
1. Entice The Referrals
To gain more traction on Facebook, you need plenty of new fans. Why not send your army of current fans out to get more? How do you get them to go out and market for you? You can ask nicely, but a more effective tactic is to bribe them. Use a referral code and give your loyal customers a discount whenever they tell a friend.
2. Free Is The Magic Word
Everyone loves free and it's amazing how people will come out of the woodwork the moment they hear the word. If you want to attract more Facebook fans and loyal customers, give your audience something they can use and don't charge for it. An e-book, e-report or video tutorial series filled with tips, tricks and advice work best. Once you've hooked them with your free offer, that's when you can offer an upsell item to really ramp up your profits.
3. Don't Forget Your Keywords
Remember to use your keywords in your posts, on your profile, in your Facebook ads, in the articles you share and on everything else. While Facebook posts don't show up in Google, Facebook does have its own search engine. Facebook will also ‘recommend' your page to like-minded individuals. Use your keywords and use them often when Facebook marketing for better results.
4. Get A Community Together
Your Facebook business page should make your fans feel as though they're part of the club. Make your page interactive and get your fans involved. Have a video contest where your fans can upload their own content and you can pick the best one. This a great way to get everyone involved and they'll be more likely to stick around even after the contest is over. Facebook marketing is about being social. Form your own unique community with your fans and your competition won't stand a chance against you.
5. Tie It All Together
For best results while Facebook marketing, tie everything together; your website, your Facebook business page, your Twitter feed and any other online presence your business may have. Facebook is an excellent tool for marketing, but the platform really pops when you can create the ultimate Facebook experience. If you can create a completely new online atmosphere for your fans, visitors and customers, you will keep them on your page longer and they'll be more likely to convert.
Speaking of your Facebook business page, are you projecting the image that you'd like to about your business. If not, why not take a minute to take a look at our Facebook Setup and Design Services. In about a month you'll have a rocking business page complete with statistics and reporting in place.

A Beginners Guide That is Not Just a Trend
Twitter has blessed the world with the hashtag (#). The hashtag is a simple way to track and organize content and discussion topics by a keyword. The marketing world is now able to utilize the hashtag on many other social media platforms. What may have started as a trend to spur on a conversation is now a major contributor in helping followers link to brands and products.
Where Can Hashtags Be Used?
Twitter is the obvious first choice for hashtags and the most versatile. Hashtags have popped up all over social media however, and have become a useful tool in marketing to get the conversation flowing and in making an easy gateway to products, promotions, and linking to your brand.
#Facebook, #Pinterest, #Instagram, #and any other #socialmedia platform can support the many uses for hashtags (see what we did there?). Check the platform you are using for how they use hashtags and their ways of applying them.
Proper Hashtag Usage
If you notice in the last sentence above, it does not matter if you use capitalization or not. However, spacing does matter since #socialmedia is much different from #social media. As soon as you add a space you are breaking the link. Once you placed the space between the words, you have now created the hashtag ‘#social' rather than ‘#socialmedia.'
Capitalization, while it doesn't change the meaning of your hashtag, can help the reader to understand it. #LampstandCreations is a lot easier to read than #lampstandcreations when scanning over a webpage. Remember your visitor is only looking for seconds before deciding to click.
Forget everything your second-grade teacher taught you – No punctuation necessary!
The great and powerful hashtag does not support punctuation. So as excited as you are about your new toenail polish – hashtag is not. Just add your hashtag and fancy it up with capitalization if you want, and you are good to go.
Any special characters will mess it up, and you will not accomplish what you are hoping to. Your hashtag hopes and dreams will be squashed before they start.
Hashtag & Marketing
When you begin using hashtags in for your marketing campaign, the best advice is to start simple and build up as you get used to using social media as a platform. Here are some quick tips:
- • Designate one or two people – too many people can create a cluttery mess. Don't overwhelm your followers…but don't become boring
• Keep it relevant – Keep your hashtags relevant to your business, but don't be so trendy that you go too far off brand!
• Create Buzz – promotions, contests, raffles, exciting new things!! Make people want to come to you – stay – and check in often!
• Keep your hashtags specific to what you are talking about – don't be too vague so that no one knows what the hashtag is referring to
• Keep it simple – Hashtags should not be more than two words
Proper use of hashtags is mostly common sense. You are already paying attention to trends and how social media is being used in marketing. Watching how your competition is using hashtags and following these simple tips, will have you well on your way to #hashtagging your next promotion.

This familiarity keeps your business in the backs of their minds. Then, the next time they want what you're offering, they'll be more likely to choose you over competitors.
9. More Long Term Success
Facebook is about being social and building trust with your audience. The more you post and the more you share with your audience, the stronger the bond between you will become. Your customers will soon be so comfortable with you they will want to buy from you instead of anyone else.

Facebook Groups as VIP Rooms
The magic of Facebook is that you can connect with people from around the world. For a growing business this is a gold mine of customers and potential consumers. But an individual doesn't want to be another number on your number of “likes.” It is simply not enough to have a Facebook page with fans. You need to keep your fans engaged and make them feel special. People like to feel heard and Facebook groups can do just that.
You Have Facebook Fans: Now What?
Catering to many cultures and interests requires individual groups. A Facebook group is a tool every business can, and should, use to get to know their fans and turn those who are just followers into customers.
Facebook groups allows you to zero in on what your customers want. Groups are a set apart dedicated space, like a little room, where you share updates, photos, or new products that may be of interest to a specific target audience.
You can even set the privacy options for each group to reflect the exclusivity you want. You can choose between secret, private, or public settings. This allows you to let others see who is in the group and even see what the hot topic is. You are creating buzz and other people will want to be a part of the conversation! Essentially groups can help you create a way to manage your fans as you grow but not lose that personal touch.
Using Groups for Marketing
Groups are a great marketing tool. Not only are you keeping your customers informed about upcoming products or services – you can now ask questions and get input.
What a valuable asset!
You don’t have to go out and hire a team every time you want to know what your consumer wants. Sometimes you simply want a quick thought about a new idea or product. This is where Facebook groups is handy. Loyal customers can feel they are included as a company “family” and enjoy offering input. This also makes them want to try “their” product.
Groups can also be used to provide customer support.
Groups can be as narrow or broad as you want. For example, if you design perfume you could create a group for just musk or floral scents or a group to hold a contest for your customers to come up with a new scent combination or a wider niche group consisting of general favorites.
The possibilities are endless. As you work to grow your business you will find that your fan base may become more varied. Groups is a great for creating ways to stay organized without losing touch with who really matters – your customers.

What is Google+1?
Google+1 is Google’s newest revolutionary experiment. They’ve been working on it for quite some time now. It’s a fairly new aspect to global marketing that was only released a few months ago but is steadily gaining users.
What makes Google+1 so significant?
To put it simply, Google+1 assists users in differentiating the worthless web pages from the non-worthless web pages. Whether you are a marketer, or an average user wanting to learn more about how to market their own website, you should have viewed the plus 1 button at some stage or another.
In essence, the Google+1 button functions similarly to that of a Facebook like or a tweet; however there is a slight difference as the plus 1 button has the ability to influence the hierarchy of search results and rank.
So is Google+1 a game changer?
Well, have you taken a look at all the marketing websites lately? They’ve been practically littered with users offering their Google+1 services. And whether you like it or not, Google plus 1 is going to influence one’s rank and in turn, the internet marketing world.
Well, Google is determined to meet and improve a user’s internet experience. Before, Google+1 was just Google’s newest experiment to compete with other influential websites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Why is it hard to establish yourself with Google+1?
Unfortunately there are many marketing sites that automatically link build or “plus 1” sites for a fee. They fool Google by their automated systems, and in turn other users into thinking that that particular website with dozens of plus 1’s is popular because its rocks or is fascinating. Whilst in reality, it might stink or suck horribly.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to stop this and whatever we do there will always be people who are willing to exploit the system. Google and various other websites have been dealing with these exploiters for years and have made little progress. So we have no choice but to accept this and move on.
Regardless of this, Google+1 will still help rank your website; just be aware that you are probably not competing with the others on fair ground. How much it will influence your websites overall ranking, I can’t be totally certain. However, I can guarantee that it will influence the rank of your website. (And besides, it never hurts to try.)
Setting up a your Google+ business page and adding Google+1 buttons to your websites and blogs is just one of the small jobs that virtual assistants provide for their clients.
